As a tumor grows, the rapid reproduction of cancer cells leads to the depletion of oxygen in their vicinity, resulting in the formation of hypoxic zones and the deterioration of blood vessels which become dysfunctional and collapsed. Current therapeutics need blood vessels to be diffused in the tumor and reach all cancer cells. Many studies demonstrated that 90% of a tumor receive little or no drug at all. “Our focus will be on six Unmet Medical Need indications—pancreas, prostate, head and neck, breast recurrence metastasis, colorectal non-operable, and vulva,” says Gareau. “To maximize efficiency and effectiveness, we will employ a Bayesian adaptive protocol throughout the trials, with the ultimate goal of obtaining FDA approval in Phase II .”
