Pierre Naider Fanfan, President and CEOProbiosphere, a leading biotechnology company, is revolutionizing wastewater treatment and environmental remediation through the production of microbes and cutting-edge technologies that combine simplicity, reliability, and performance.
“We prioritize white biotechnology, using microbes and enzymes without genetic manipulation. Our comprehensive approach includes analysis, solution design, implementation, and ongoing support to reduce the ecological carbon footprint,” says Pierre Naider Fanfan, President and CEO of Probiosphere.
Unlike traditional companies that sell products, Probiosphere focuses on performance-based remuneration services, ensuring a balance between clients’ needs and environmental preservation.
Probiosphere supplies bacteria capable of withstanding low temperatures and effectively decomposing organic matter in sludge. These bacteria are beneficial because they reduce CO2 emissions, which contribute to ozone depletion and environmental harm. Wastewater treatment facilities often emit unpleasant odors, which can be unhealthy and disturbing to local residents. Probiosphere addresses this issue with odor control techniques that use targeted oxidized enzymes to neutralize odors at their source rather than merely masking them with fragrances.
Probiosphere also plays a significant role in biogas production. It supplies essential groups of microorganisms, such as methanogens, archaea, and syntrophic oxidation bacteria, which aid in biomass fermentation to produce methane gas. Furthermore, it develops technologies like EnzMike and low-level phosphorus removal (L2PR), showcasing its expertise in biotechnology, engineering, and environmental science.
The effectiveness of Probiosphere’s solutions is highlighted by a case study involving the Dubai World Port Authority (DWPA) in the lead-up to the Dubai World Expo. The DWPA discovered hazardous materials in the artificial harbor at Jebel Ali, creating an environment harmful to marine life. DWPA sought experts in water remediation and turned to Probiosphere for assistance. Probiosphere analyzed the pollutants and identified plastic molecules leaking into the harbor as a significant source of damage. It recommended EnZMike, a technology that oxygenates water with natural ecological enzymes, to reverse the toxic effects of plastic molecules and restore the habitat for marine life.
