The pharmaceutical industry is making concerted efforts to improve the R&D process. However, exploding development costs are leading to a continuous decline in productivity. The emergence of new biotherapeutics is adding to the woes as they are extremely costly with a low probability of success. The design principles of complex molecules are far from being understood, and biophysical and functional characteristics influence each other in multiple dimensions.

There is an imminent need for a unified discovery platform to reliably get the products to the market and drive commercial success.

Perspix Biotech simplifies the complex and expensive design processes for multi-specific antibody therapeutics with its innovative platform, roPROTix. It uses a combination of advanced digital approaches and a fully automated lab workflow for the swift and cost-effective development of next-generation, multi-specific antibodies. Through the platform, Perspix shifts the paradigm of multi-targeting drug discovery by connecting digital design and physical experimentation workflows into a closed-loop-feedback system. It integrates AI, ML, and data algorithms to holistically empower multi-mAb-driven drug design.

“The multi-dimensional challenges in biotherapeutic drug development seemed like the perfect use case for our AI strategy,” says Dr. Matthias Wiedenfels, Managing Director and CEO, Perspix. “There were no meaningful data sets to effectively train AI on nextgeneration drug discovery. We have found a way to generate this data. ”

Focus on Parallelization and Automation

Perspix focuses on parallelization and automation rather than employing the traditional iterative and manual research process. It uses an integrated assembly line that allows for fully automated production and optimization of drug candidates. This is a fundamental change in the way biopharma R&D has been done.

roPROTix facilitates the development and optimization of novel biomolecular drug candidates within months, compared to current standard methodologies that take years with low success rates.

One of the main objectives of roPROTix is to close the data gap in pharma R&D. The end-to-end solution effectively marries digital design and robotic lab experimentation to produce up to 25.000 in silicodesigned drug variants.

All variants are tested in an automated lab and in a parallel approach for all parameters simultaneously. Instead of improving a single candidate iteratively and manually, parameter after parameter, roPROTix selects the best possible candidates based on development-critical requirements.

This plays a crucial role in generating multidimensional data sets of unprecedented volume and quality, which roPROTix feeds into its AI engine. This creates even better drug candidates—just like a perpetuum mobile. The reduction in development cost and time is so significant that it is almost unbelievable.

roPROTix platform is also format- and diseaseagnostic. As a result, it can optimize all kinds of complex molecules and address multiple diseases.

We want to start with one of the worst scourges of modern society; cancer. Our oncology program focuses on tri-specific Tcell engagers. Depending on market demand, we can go into other drug formats or therapeutic areas, as well

Efficiently Developing Multi-Specific Antibody Therapeutics

Currently, multi-specific antibodies require years of development before they are fit to go to animal testing and clinical studies. roPROTix allows for the development of viable drug candidates in just months. This is an enormous lever for R&D pipelines.

With roPROTix, Perspix will optimize two to four drug candidates every year. This ensures that the company’s market success does not depend on just one candidate.

"Perspix makes the process of developing multispecific antibody therapeutics more efficient. We will deliver the right drug candidates into clinical trials in a fraction of todays timelines,” says Dr. José Airas, Managing Director and COO, Perspix.

The First Truly Predictive AI Drug-Design Company

At the heart of Perspix's success is its team of experts with comprehensive experience across the life sciences and high-tech industries.

The company also establishes strong collaborations with major biotech and pharma companies, with a specific focus on multi-specific therapeutics. By leveraging its expertise in developing multi-specific antibody molecules and achieving a high success rate, Perspix positions itself as a dependable partner capable of assisting pharma companies in developing advanced therapeutics within their desired timeline and budget.

Perspix is currently in the early stage, seeking funding and pharma partnerships to continue developing its platform. In pursuit of this, it emphasizes onboarding investors who have a forward-looking approach and understanding of the values it strives to bring.

Moving forward, it is poised to generate the biggest and most meaningful experimental data sets on multitargeting modalities in the industry. It intends to utilize these datasets to enhance the training of its AI and ML algorithms, with the ultimate goal of becoming the first AI-driven multi-specific drug-design company in the world.

As Perspix will be able to understand the core design principles for complex biologics, it will further increase process efficiency. With the capability to pre-screen millions of drug variants in silico and design them de novo, its technology has the potential to become the new benchmark for biopharma R&D. As a result, the industry can avoid expensive and time-consuming in vitro screenings.

The roPROTix platform also allows Perspix to maintain an extensive list of pipeline projects. Trispecific T-Cell Engagers against hematological cancer and solid tumors are just the beginning. Perspix has great aspirations for drug discovery programs against immunological and neurological disorders.

“Our core mission has always been to emerge as a promising therapeutics company with a vision to make cost-effective biomedicines and improve treatment outcomes for millions of patients, and we will continue to do so in the future,” says Dr. Wiedenfels.
