With the growing cost of clinical trial operations, which is significantly impacting new, life-changing products being brought to market, the clinical trial initiatives today face a plethora of roadblocks. The initiatives are often challenged with a low level of participant enrollment and retention and 70 percent back out of the trial due to the extensive follow-ups and commute to travel to the sites. Finally, they are also plagued with dated technologies being used for digitizing the process.

That’s where myOnsiteHealthcare, LLC. (MOH) can help. The company is advancing clinical trial management by developing mobile biospecimen collection services that benefit the sponsor and participant.

MOH, a fully managed mobile specimen collection and clinical research services company, provides high-quality mobile phlebotomy services that can be utilized in the clinical trial arena to offer the necessary services needed for study participant assessment. To achieve this, MOH has launched the myWork Mobile Phlebotomy Application—a digital application that connects mobile phlebotomists with clients in need of healthcare services across the nation. The app was designed to streamline mobile healthcare services, enabling convenience, scheduling, and reach capacity. It allows mobile phlebotomists to connect directly with clients and provide much-needed services on their own schedule with more flexibility, freedom, and financial security.

MOH recruits its own phlebotomists, conducts background and verification checks and provides training, and enables them with the necessary supplies and centrifuges to service the most complex processing of biospecimens, including processes needed for Pharmacokinetic / Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) trials.

MOH can receive orders through Email, Fax, or through the HL7 interface via its portal. They ensure that the nearest phlebotomist is assigned to the participant’s location through a Uber-style platform.

“By providing a digital, paperless trail with access to our web portal, we help the research industry in getting rid of manual tracking of the orders and documents,” says Mayank Trivedi, the president and CEO of myOnsite Healthcare, LLC.

MOH’s remote, cost-effective clinical services are aimed at improving data collection, protocol adherence, and reduce patient burden, thereby improving study compliance. This includes the deconstruction of trial protocols so that mobile services can be utilized to collect data (such as routine blood samples for drug studies), manage patients, and transition in-clinic to remote study visits.

An example of how MOH helps its clients can be quoted through the case of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). The company was roped in to conduct a series of population-based serology surveys to better support informed decisions about prevention and control strategies and community mitigation interventions in COVID-19 response. MOH provided the full range of services in this emergency contract, from patient enrollment assistance, checking the inclusion-exclusion criteria, schedule draws eConsent at the patient’s home with eSignature, blood collection, shipping & delivery to the central lab, and Incentive management and activation. This ultimately resulted in a contract extension between myOnsite and NYC DOHMH until 2022.

For the future, MOH plans to continue advancing mobile healthcare services for clinical trial research. In addition to phlebotomy services, the company will integrate diagnostic, radiologic and other disease-specific assessment tools that can be used remotely. They will continue to expand both vertically on the services side on patient recruitment, clinical data management, and remote patient monitoring and will be replicating the success they had in the U.S. to other regional strategies across the UK, Europe, and Canada. “We will continue eliminating long queues during lab visits and increase patient compliance with timely patient health monitoring,” concludes Trivedi.
