The key is in isolating these rare memory T cells from cancer patients’ blood. Lukas Biomedical, based in Taiwan, has successfully launched memory T cell therapy for clinical trials. It is actively working on new treatments, including dendritic cell (DC) memory T cell therapy. This involves extracting a patient’s tumor biopsy, performing DNA sequencing to identify specific tumor antigens, and enhancing the patient’s memory T cells with these antigens. This approach will boost the body’s ability to recognize and eliminate cancer. Currently, the treatment is in the research phase, with plans for clinical trials and commercialization.
Additionally, Lukas is exploring the use of natural killer (NK) cells, which can be derived from healthy donors (allogenic). Unlike autologous cell therapies, NK cells don’t require personal ID matching, enabling easier mass production and administration to patients.

Lukas’s core focus areas encompass autologous cell therapy using a patient’s cells, allogenic cell therapy from healthy donors, ongoing genetic therapy research, and plans for CAR-related therapy, customizing cancer treatments based on a database of unique antigens.
Lukas’s technology, which originated in Japan, where a phase three clinical trial showed a 33 percent reduction in liver cancer recurrence, is offering hope for the prevalent Asian population with hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
