Lianbio
Bringing Paradigm-shifting Medicines Closer

Lianbio

As more and more days are passing by, the world is witnessing increasing medical needs, with a larger section of the population being affected every day. That is a key reason for the heightened focus on efficient and rapid drug discoveries today. But the drug and pharma companies face grievous challenges in introducing innovations within the drug discovery realm to meet the medical needs of the population.

This brings in the mention of one of the most promising biotechnology companies of date, LianBio, which strives to catalyze development and accelerate the availability of paradigmshifting medicines to patients in China and major Asian markets.

Founded, seeded, and incubated by Perceptive Advisors, LianBio emerged in the industry with the dynamic strategic alliance to transform and introduce new approaches for developing medicines. They utilize top-notch global innovation mining platforms and a China-centric execution strategy to better help the partners access the healthcare landscape and simultaneously sharpen global development initiatives. LianBio’s powerful collaborations offer access to science-driven therapeutic discoveries. In collaborating with world-class partners across multiple therapeutic and geographic areas, they have delineated the major areas of concern within the medical field to help bring transformative mechanisms and precision-based therapeutics.

LianBio’s business model deploys an effective workflow to work efficiently with global partners. They are supporting leading biotech companies to engage with development in Chinese and major Asian markets.

Very recently, on November 19, 2020, the big wheel US pharma Pfizer and LianBio announced their collaboration, with the mission to develop and commercialize transformative pharmaceutical products in Greater China. The companies together envision enhancements for best-in-class therapies for patients, utilizing their clinical development, regulatory and commercial expertise.

LianBio possesses extensive sourcing capabilities that have helped them create a diverse pipeline of innovative therapies targeting varied diseases. Cardiorenal is one of the key pipelines LianBio contributes to.

It partners with MyoKardia, who are pioneering a precision medicine approach to commercialize targeted therapies for treating severe cardiovascular diseases. Together they are aiming to bring Mavacamten, which is a firstin- class small molecule therapeutics. Clinical evidence opines Mavacamten to be the suitable treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. As the second area of therapeutics, LianBio focuses on Oncology, partnering with BridgeBio and two of its affiliate Navire Pharma and QED Therapeutics. The partnership primarily focuses on two of BridgeBio’s oncology drug candidates: FGFR inhibitor infigratinib, which is in Phase3 of clinical development for FGFR-driven tumors and BBP-398 that is an allosteric SHP2 inhibitor for tumors driven by RAS and receptor tyrosine kinase mutations.

As statistics suggest, in China alone, greater than 3.3 million pediatric and elderly patients are affected by RSV-associated lower respiratory tract infections each year, including an estimated 400,000 patients who require hospitalization. This aggravated number of affected patients has stirred the requirement for adequate treatment for these diseases. On these lines, LianBio extends its efforts into respiratory therapeutics and has entered into a partnership with ReViral, aiming to introduce Sisunatovir to the market. This is an orally administered fusion inhibitor designed to block Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) replication, focusing on treating pediatric patients.

Underpinning LianBio’s vast array of biotechnology efforts is the perfect fusion of industry leaders, experienced in local markets, along with cross-border experts. This blend, enables developing local companies and helps them bring maximum innovation to bring better medicines for patients.

LianBio is all set to explore the drug discovery realm with its precise biotechnology expertise and multidimensional network to fabricate the unique approaches for developing cures for specific disease and their underlying causes. In the future, the company endeavors to expand into areas of neurology, inflammatory diseases, ophthalmology and other potentially rare diseases. With newer funding and partnerships, LianBio looks forward to sustaining and sharpening its ambit within the biotechnology space.
